The harrowing incident began during the week of Monday, Jan. 22 at a business in Mount Kisco on Hubbels Drive, when officers found a 58-year-old man in cardiac arrest lying on the ground and foaming at the mouth, the Westchester County Police Department announced on Tuesday, Jan. 30.
Although a civilian at the business had already performed some chest compressions, police found that the man was unresponsive with no pulse, and Officers John Hecht, Michel Mignone, and Francisca Menaez began performing CPR.
With the help of Sgt. Timothy Hicks, the officers also used a bag valve mask to help the man breathe. Police continued these efforts until a Westchester EMS paramedic and members of the Mount Kisco Volunteer Ambulance Corps arrived and administered several shocks from an automated external defibrillator to restore the man's heartbeat.
After this, the man was rushed to Northern Westchester Hospital, where he still remains. However, thanks to first responders and police, he is expected to return home soon.
"When a life was hanging in the balance, the teamwork and skill demonstrated by these officers and our EMS partners was what made the difference for a good outcome," police said in a social media post.
